through the ZBrush model and the Unlit low poly model. then i could reposition/scale/move the sphere using front and side views and then form the innerlip smile shape then i could dynamesh. I have found only one way so far and that is to duplicate the object, make one object bigger.

(on a side note i was sculpting inner lip area of smile and was finding it really helpful using insertmesh to insert a sphere. Mesh insert brush (use modifier to change inserted subtool, to merge a mesh while keeping topology put polygroup and show area then insert, ctrl click a way smooth join area (see ears swift) )ī,t,d,r between smoothing and hpolish (nice way starting to clean up)ī,t,m trim rectangle (useful for splitting a shape into two) Tab toggle simplify ui by hiding left menuĬtrlt+shift show selected polygroup (press ctrlt+shift to invert visible)Ĭtrl+shft+movetool click duplicate masked onto same subtoolĬtrl mask, click invert mask, click off remove mask Hotkeys (to assign a hot key - ctrl+alt then click on ui element, then type key want to use) Also the smooth hotkey and changing the brush size and intensity are very helpful. The major ones i use are the brush hotkeys going between (insert mesh, clay buildup, hpolish, trim dynamic). It's a mini toolset for dealing with subtools that includes a mirror function and a merge function among others.I wanted to share with you some of the hotkeys i'm using with zbrush. It's a really powerful posing and adjustment system as well, that when combined with masks gives you pretty much unlimited potential to shape your meshes.įor mirroring the sphere I would suggest installing the Subtool Master plugin. It is more than just a simple transform tool.

I would highly suggest learning to use the transpose tool to its full extent. Transforms all take place in view space so manipulate the view as you need to when using the tool. If you've never used transpose then make sure you grab the middle circle handle so that it translates the sphere without distorting it as the other handles have different effects that are also useful (just not for moving a whole mesh). Draw a sphere, convert it to a polymesh, then use the move transpose tool (w key) to position it. ZBrush 2022.0.6 is a free update for all registered ZBrush users, including subscriptions and perpetual licenses. The transpose tool makes it easy to place eyeballs. I love how concise my ZB explainations wind up. It does it in screen space, so if you need to do a flat X/Y/Z move have the viewport locked to an axis (the hit shift and LMB on an empty space thing). Worthwhile getting used to them (transpose in general is one of the really golden features), but just make sure you're dragging with the middle circle, of the move tool, and it'll move in a predictable way. *That is the full move tool, not the brush. I imagine the model has to be centered at 0 for the mirror to work right - haven't tried it off centre myself. If the eye position isn't set it in stone, just take one eye from max, position it in ZB (move tool*), then use the SubtoolMaster plug mirror it over. The help sections linked there takes you right through the whole plugin as well.įor eyes: if I know the eye position I just make a low poly set in max and position them appropriately, and take them into Zbrush (both eyes as one object).
